Amy (amy@howardimpact.com) parlays nearly three decades of experience working in and around California’s State Capitol to provide communications support and a full-range of fund development and grant management services, including funding procurement and grant proposal writing.
Before Howard | Impact, Amy promoted an array of state legislative, budget and regulatory initiatives on behalf of one of California's most effective and influential advocacy groups, California Professional Firefighters -- the state council of the International Association of Fire Fighters -- representing California’s federal, state, and local public agency firefighting and EMS personnel.
Prior to advocating for firefighters, her experience spanned various policy, political and media interests, including serving in the press office for then-Senate President Pro Tempore David Roberti, as well as the Capitol Morning Report and the Sacramento Bee’s Capitol Alert. Advocacy became an interest when she went to work for a local government lobbying firm while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Sacramento State University.
Amy discovered her passion for advancing the important, mission-focused policy of progressive nonprofits after joining the California Public Interest Research Group's legislative team and, later, when promoting nationally-recognized voter education projects for the California Voter Foundation. Amy also served as the Northern California fundraiser for a statewide initiative campaign and has since volunteered on numerous state and local campaigns.
Amy splits her time between Sacramento, Calif. and Southern Oregon. She lives in the Rogue Valley with her partner, Steve. Outside of the office, you'll find her tinkering in her soaping studio or veggie garden, exploring off-grid in their vintage Airstream, or just hanging out with their two stubborn English Bulldogs, Queen B & Ruby Doo.
